WATCH: Ciara Refuses to Say Future’s Name During Billboard Nominees Announcement
Well, this is just awkward.
While revealing the 2016 Billboard Music Awards nominees on Monday (Apr. 11, 2016), Ciara let her feelings about former fiancé Future be heard — or rather: not heard — when she purposefully skipped over his name when it came time to announce his category.
While listing off nominations for Top Rap Artists, the songstress deliberately paused when she got to her ex’s name. After a moment of dead air, fellow presenter Ludacris jumped in and filled in the blank with Future’s moniker before Ciara resumed with the announcement, naming Wiz Khalifa — who is friends with Future — and Silentó as the last two nominations. Future was the one person Ciara didn’t verbally address during the speech.

Ciara ended her engagement to Future in 2014 just three months after giving birth to their first child. It was rumored that Future had cheated on her with stylist Tyrina Lee, though the emcee since denied allegations of infidelity.
“It clearly didn’t work out,” Ciara said about the breakup last April. “But I have the greatest gift, the greatest joy of my life is my son [Future Jr.]. Honestly, I feel like everything in life happens for a reason and my son has been the greatest gift that God has given me in my life and been the most game-changing thing that’s happened to my life, in a necessary way.”
“I can’t really break all that down because I don’t event think it really matters to tell you the truth,” she said of Future’s alleged affair. “Especially when the ending is great as it is with my son. That’s what worked out, my son.”
Ciara got engaged to boyfriend Russell Wilson earlier this year after a year of dating.
However, it seems like someone clearly isn’t completely over her ex.
