This weekend marks the arrival of Disney’s latest live-action adventure, The Jungle Book. Not only does this big-budget remake of the animated classic have a swarm of big names voicing the film’s characters, it’s also helmed by Jon Favreau, the guy behind Iron Man.
So, without any further ado, let’s get into the details!
Who’s in it?
The film’s star is newcomer Neel Sethi, who plays the human child Mowgli, but his animal pals are each brought to life by a who’s-who list of stars including Bill Murray, Ben Kingsley, Idris Elba, Lupita Nyong’o, Scarlett Johansson, Christopher Walken,Giancarlo Esposito, the late Garry Shandling and more.
What’s it about?
Based on the novel by Rudyard Kipling, the film tells the story of a boy raised among wolves in the wild. His life is threatened by Shere Khan (Elba), a ferocious Bengal tiger, so Mowgli decides to leave the jungle and join human civilization, led by Bagheera (Kingsley). What follows is a heartwarming adventure about friendship with more than a few pieces of eye candy.
Why should I care?
If that star-studded cast doesn’t have you sold, the film’s immersive visuals should do the trick.
Also, remember the lovable bear from the animated film, Baloo? It’s Bill Murray this time. Bill Murray!
