Not a fan of The Jungle Book? No interest in Ice Cube? Maybe this fantasy prequel is up your alley.
This weekend, The Huntsman: Winter’s War is marching to a theater near you offering a new adventure predating Snow White. Sound promising? Let’s get into the details…
Who’s in it?
Chris Hemsworth and his sparkling blue eyes, Jessica Chastain, Charlize Theron and Emily Blunt are our key players.
What’s it about?
Billed as a look at this fantasy world before Snow White was tricked into eating a poisoned apple, the story follows two powerful sisters Ravenna (Theron) and Freya (Blunt). When Ravenna discovers that her sister is pregnant, her Magic Mirror predicts that the child (presumably future Kristen Stewart) shall surpass her in beauty, so she plots to kill the child.
Upon discovering that her child is dead, Freya abandons the realm and builds a palace of ice in the North where she begins amassing an army. But when Freya discovers that her sister was responsible for her child’s death, the two sisters must battle to the death. Also, the child had to have survived, but how?
Why should I care?
This may not be a serious film but it’s got more talent and visual grandeur than you could possibly hope for! Fans of Snow White and the Huntsman will surely want to revisit this unique take on the classic story.
