TV Casting Update: Matthew Perry Joins the Kennedys, Stephen Fry Is Headed ‘Indoors’

Matthew Perry and Stephen Fry Have New TV Roles
We’ve looked everywhere for the latest TV casting news and rounded up all the headlines worth checking out. There’s new parts on the way for Matthew PerryCarrie Preston and Stephen Fry.
Carrie Preston, best known for her Emmy-winning role as Elsbeth Tascioni on The Good Wife, has been cast in ABC’s prestigious eight-hour miniseries When We rise. The show centers on a family that played an integral role in the gay rights movement. Preston will play Sally Gearheart, a  longtime gay rights activist. [Deadline]

Reelz is planning a followup to 2011’s The Kennedys and has tapped Friends alum Matthew Perry for the role of Ted Kennedy. The miniseries will cover the years after both John F. Kennedy and Bobby Kennedy’s assassinations and Ted’s attempt to take up his family’s political mantle. Katie Holmes will reprise her role as Jackie Kennedy Onassis. [The Hollywood Reporter]
British comedian Stephen Fry will be joining Joel McHale on CBS’s multi-cam pilot The Great Indoors. McHale plays an adventurous reporter who’s been relegated to an office job and room full of Millennials. Fry will play Antonio, world traveler and founder of The Great Outdoors magazine, the publication where McHale’s character works. This sounds like comedy heaven! [Deadline]
