T.I. Becomes Newest Artist Owner of Tidal

Rap mogul Jay Z isn’t giving up on his flop Tidal music app. Atlanta’s own rap tycoon T.I. has joined the long list of artist owners of the failing Tidal music app.
T.I. signed a distribution deal with Jay Z’s Roc Nation for his upcoming album, Dime Trap, on his independent Grand Hustle Recordings label.
T.I., 35, celebrated the latest addition to his portfolio with a live pop up concert at Greenbrier Mall in Atlanta on Monday, Feb. 22.

“Newest artist owner in the @TIDAL fam! #TIDALXTIP #BankRollMafia HustleGangOverErrrrthang” he wrote in a photo caption on his Instagram account.
T.I. joins a long list of artists who haven’t seen a dime from their initial investments in Tidal.
The list includes Jay Z’s wife Beyonce, and their friends J. Cole, Rihanna, Keyshia Cole, Usher, Nicki Minaj, Li’l Wayne, Madonna, and more.
T.I. follows in the footsteps of Rihanna and Kanye West who both released albums on Tidal that tanked. But thanks to creative back room shenanigans, both albums ranked high on the charts despite the lack of hard sales.
The rapper also celebrated his mother, Violeta Morgan‘s birthday this week.
