Rihanna Passes Michael Jackson; Lands 14th No. 1 Record on Hot 100 Charts
Rihanna is starting the new week off with a bang. After celebrating her 28th birthday over the weekend, RiRi set the internet on fire with her blazing new video “Work” on Monday (Feb. 22). Just a few hours after the video premiere co-starring Drake, it was announced the song landed at No. 1 on the Hot 100 charts.
Billboard announced that “Work,” the lead single off Rihanna’s platinum-selling ANTI LP, took top spot on the Hot 100 charts this week. Produced by Boi-1da, SEVN Thomas, and Allen Ritter, the song becomes Rihanna’s 14th No. 1 song.
The Bajan beauty surpasses Michael Jackson, now owning the third-most No. 1s of all-time. Only The Beatles (20) and Mariah Carey (18) have more No. 1 records on the Hot 100 charts. “Work” also becomes Drake’s second Hot 100 No. 1 of his career, the previous one being his first collaboration with Rihanna, 2010’s “What’s My Name?.”
“#WORK tops Billboard #Hot100!! Navy you killed it this week! #NavyRDie,” tweeted Rihanna to her fans following the news. “Two number ones and they are both cause of you…Midas Touch Riri. Thank you!!!,” said Drake moments after on Instagram.
