Racist Cop Suspended for Leaving Insensitive Facebook Comment After Black Lives Matter Activist MarShawn McCarrel Committed Suicide

MarShawn McCarrel
An Ohio cop was suspended after he left an insensitive comment on Facebookabout the suicide of Black Lives Matters activist MarShawn McCarrel.
McCarrel, 23, shot himself in the head at the Ohio State House on Monday. His body was was found at 5:58 p.m. by a security guard at the top of the West rotunda steps.
“My demons won today. I’m sorry,” wrote McCarrel on his Facebook page just hours before his body was found.

He added: “Let the record show that I pissed on the state house before I left.”
“Love a happy ending,” wrote officer Lee Cyr under an article about McCarrel on the Facebook page for Ohio Politics.
Another Facebook user wrote, “One less to worry about.”
Cyr quickly deleted the comment which appeared on the Ohio Politics Facebook page on Wednesday.
Fairborn Police are investigating whether Cyr violated the police department’s social media policy.
McCarrel was an active member of the online collective known as Black Lives Matter.

Black Lives Matter was born out of frustration over the unjust deaths of multiple unarmed black men by racist cops. The organization is comprised almost entirely of vocal online Black Twitter members.
Unlike Black Twitter who pound their keyboards in protest, McCarrel and other Black Lives Matter members take an active role by organizing protests outside of government buildings and police stations.
Fellow activists have voiced their opinions that McCarrel’s death was not a suicide.
McCarrel’s death “was no accident,” said Molly Shack, an organizer with the Ohio Student Association.
