Saturday (Feb 13) was a glorious day for Kendrick Lamar as he received the prestigious key to the city of Compton by Mayor Aja Brown. The award ceremony was an entire fun filled event that even featured performances from K.Dot and his fellow Compton friend, YG.
Like a true king, Kendrick graciously thanked the mayor and the entire city of Los Angeles for always supporting his career. Tonight (Feb 15), the TDE rapper will perform at the 2016 Grammy awards, where he up for a whopping 11 nominations.
“Kendrick Lamar is a phenomenal artist whose work has served as a catalyst to raise a new level of consciousness for this generation,” said Brown in a statement prior to the ceremony. “His message challenges the status quo and motivates listeners to rethink our society’s institutions.”
